Over the years Luton Gospel Community Choir has run events we have been fortunate have met and continue to work with more and more talented young musicians and singers. We have seen that involvement in Positive Activities including our youth gospel Choirs and other Music is a powerful tool to develop self- confidence in children and young People, divert them away from crime.

Within the Luton community there are many young singers, and instrumentalist. We want to create valuable opportunities for our young people to develop their musical abilities, and explore music to experience a range of musical Styles, have opportunities for group performance, meet and work with top musicians and to be encouraged and supported to work towards attaining music qualifications.

Aims:

The aim of the Luton Gospel Community Choir Mentoring Project is to give young people in Luton high quality music making opportunities through providing activities delivered by a range of professional and prominent musicians and individuals and working together with local organisizations.

Specifically we will:

1. Support and encourage young musicians and singers particularly BME to work towards obtaining a music qualification.
2. Give young musicians and singers experiences a range of instruments and musical genres.
3. Give young Musicians and Singers opportunities involved in group performance/ensemble work
4. Help and support young Musicians and Singers to develop and improve their solo and group performance levels.
5. Give young Musicians and Singers access to high quality music resources and equipment.
6. Give young Musicians and Singers access to high quality public music performance
7. Give young Musicians and Singers opportunities and support to take part in high quality public music performances
8. Ensuring young Musicians and Singers receive high quality Gospel music learning opportunities.
9. Giving parent a better understanding of the positive effects of music learning and participation on other behaviours, attributes.
10. Give young Musicians and Singers awareness of the range of careers making use of musical skill and experience.
